Votkinsk is located in Udmurtia Republic, Russia. From Izhevsk, you can go to the north. It takes around one hour to go there.
Votkinsk is the city where the famous composer, Tchaikovsky, born. This city is not big. The number of people who live in this city is not more than 100 000.
There are some places to visit when you are in Votkinsk.
1. Tchaikovsky Music School
This music school is the most famous music school in Udmurt Republic. If you want to be a musician, this school is the right place.
There is a monument of Tchaikovsky in front of the school. If you are lucky, you can listen to some students playing their instruments.
2. Tchaikovsky Monument
This monument is dedicated to remember the great composer Tchaikovsky. It is located near the lake, *if I am not mistaken, the name of it is Votka Lake. This monument is kind of tall and big. You can see Tchaikovsky is sitting on a bench and crossing his leg.
People like to touch his shoes for fortune things. Some of them believe if you touch his shoes you will get some luck.
There is no written rule that you are not allowed to sit on a bench with him. So, it's your decision :D
3. Tchaikovsky Museum
In front of the his monument, there is a yellow house. It is the house where he grew up and spent his first eight years there. I believe you have to pay some rubles to get inside. I went in for free because there was no security. Some of the building were lock, including his house. Besides his house, you can see his green house, the cat house (not real cats), and his garden.
4. Pagan Field
In this city, there is an area of Pagan. In this field, there are some creatures from trunks. They are close to each others. I do not want to put so much comment on this. I just want to respect it.
5. Eternal Fire
Every city has an eternal fire. It is built to commemorate the effort of Russia's heroes in the World War II. This eternal fire is different with the one in Mrapen, Indonesia. This eternal flame uses natural gas for the fuel. Too bad, when I was there, the flame was off. Maybe it was under reconstruction or something.
