How do you feel ...

"I am sorry, Miss. I haven't finished my homework yet. I am sorry, Miss. I am slow. I can not write fast. I am sorry, Miss. Something is wrong with my brain. My brain can not work, Miss"

How do you feel when your student told you that? I was kind of surprise and sad. Oh my God, He even understands himself. I tried so hard not to cry. Even though, at the end, I had teary eyes.

S is a different student. He is a special kid. I don't know the term in medical, but something is different with him. He understands instruction but he doesn't know how to write about what he said.

As his teacher, he makes me proud. He admitted that he is different and he tried his best to finish all his work.

Being a teacher is like two faces of coins. For the first side, a teacher has to deliver the lesson well. So that, the students can achieve the learning objectives. In the other hand, a teacher is a educator too. Students' behavior and discipline are a teacher concern.

Being a teacher is not easy. It has challenges. When I was a kid, I don't have any idea what a teacher is. I was just happy seeing my teacher as an idol since she can rule the world.

Am I regret for being a teacher? No, I am not. I am proud of being a teacher. One of my dreams came true. And also, I gain a lot of knowledge from identifying students characters.

Polyglot Indonesia Chapter Semarang

Today is the first anniversary Polyglot Indonesia Chapter Semarang. Polyglot itself has founded in 2012. It is
a non-profit organisation. It's a place for diaspora who have passion in languages. This organisation is addressed to Indonesian people who want to practice in any languages. Polyglot Indonesia also welcomes all foreigners who wants to learn Bahasa Indonesia without using English as the main language.

And also this is the first time I joined this organisation. I know this organisation from my friend, Nara. He joined since three months ago. I am interested in this language club since I want to learn more languages and make a new networking.

In this meeting, I met the founder, Rizal, and the person incharge of the anniversary event, *if I'm not mistaken, Kunto. They welcomed me really well.

I didn't join the occasion in Simpang Lima, but I joined in Kyle's house. At there, we celebrated the anniversary by cutting the tumpeng rice and doing a barbeque.

The meeting is usually hold every once in a month. If you want to know more about Polyglot Indonesia, you can visit its facebook page.

Polyglot Indonesia! SPEAK UP!!!

To Get The Students to Listen to You

Emm, I think this is the last post before I go to bed :). If you are a teacher and your students sometimes do not listen to you, you better try this tips from the expert. You do not need to shout or even scream to show your anger. Being angry to your students won;t solve the problem anyway.

Please do not worry. It is not and ad or fake. :)

Happy reading :D

Completing The Square

I think it's time for me to share knowledge :).
Since I am a mathematics teacher, I'd like to share a power point about algebra. The chapter is Quadratics. The book that I use is published by Cambridge.
So, for you, who face a trouble about Quadratics (pure math 1) you can download this power point.
It is very useful. And I got this for free, so I share it for free too.

Have a good time :)

Dragon Sakura

Good quotation from Dragon Sakura Episode 1.

"Lose means you'll be cheated. Our society has rules. You must follow these rules. And all these rules are written by intelligent people. They make and use the rules. Since the stupid people aren't able to understand these rules, they will hide things. These rules will continue to serve these intelligent people. Such as, taxes, salaries, and insurances. These intelligent  people will continue to make the stupid people incomprehensible  And the stupid people will only have to try to understand their meaning. All you can think is bothering. So, your whole life will be cheated and you'll pay a lot. Intelligent people will take a benefit from this situation. The stupid people will keep to be cheated and loose. That's how our society works. So, if you don't want to be cheated and if you don't want to loose, STUDY!! If you do not want to be cheated by our society, go STUDY!!!!" -Sakuragi Kenji-

School 2013 (School 5)

Siswa.

"It's okay if you are not very good at studying. But, if you don't have a dream, you won't have the strength to lean on when life is getting difficult"

Cara Bikin Paspor

Apa sih paspor?

Gampang nggak ngurus paspor?

Well, saya

Thanksgiving - Heidi Class

A legendary Thanksgiving celebration was held in 1921. The terrible winter of the previous year head been difficult for the Pilgrims. Many of the Pilgrims had died because of illness and lack of shelter. The Thanksgiving celebration was held after the Pilgrims had their first harvest, after they had gathered their first crops.

The Writings of the Pilgrims tell us that about 140 people attended the three-day celebration. Ninety of the people were Wampanoaq men. About 50 people were pilgrims. Only four of the Pilgrims at the party were women. The feast was held outside because the Pilgrims did not have a building large enough to hold so many people.

The Pilgrims were thankful for the harvest and for the help of the Wampanoaq in teaching them to grow crops in America. Without their help, the Pilgrims would have had little to eat. The menu for the first Thanksgiving included venison (deer meet) and fowl which include duck, geese, and turkeys, sea bass (cod fish), cornmeal, fruits, and vegetables were also served.

Games were played, and singing and dancing were also part of the celebration. Praises were given to God for the harvest and for the Pilgrims that survived the harsh winter.
Thanksgiving in America is now celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November. Families prepare a meal similar to the meal prepared by the Pilgrims and Wampanoaq 400 years ago. It is a time for a counting the blessing we have received during the year and for spending time with family and friends.

Heidi said that she loves teaching because she like to interact with people. In her opinion, every class is different, different hours (level) of teaching. Her dad is a teacher too. I think she get the influence of teaching from her dad :).

HOW TO FACE THE STUDENTS?
Heidi suggests to keep them busy, change the subject every 10-15 minutes. Because students are very easy to get bored. So, as a teacher, make sure that you have many plans to keep them busy. The tune of voice is very important. the up and down voice are very helpful to get the students attention. In a first week meeting, you have to make rules. For instance, if they do not do their homework what punishment they get. If they punching or kicking in the class, what children should do. If there's no rule, they will try to tease you by making annoying things.

Cita-citaku Setinggi Tanah

Tonight, I'm gonna share about book I read recently. I read Margareta's book, Fresh Graduate Boss. She shared those stories by using light language. So, I won't be feel preach by the book. If you are a fresh graduate like me, I suggest you to read this book. It cost is 45000 IDR at Gramedia Bookstore.

This book is so me. Since I'm already graduate on August and I have no job. This book tells about anything I should do and think. From the smallest thing until the biggest plan I have to make. Just like written on its cover, "29 cerita memanjat tangga karier", she gave a lot experiences of a fresh graduate and every story has its own quote. I like this quote most "BEKERJA adalah tentang menghasilkan KARYA. GAJI BUKAN tujuan dari bekerja. Tapi BONUS setelah menghasilkan KARYA"

How To Get Students Attention?

I am a fresh graduate university student in majoring Mathematics Education. In other words, I'll be a mathematics teacher. When I was a training teacher at SMAN 1 Magelang, I found difficulty to get my students attention in the middle of learning. Then, I was being silent for awhile and students would curious what was happened. After I got their attention, I began to continue my lesson. Roseboro,  an educator and writer at Grand Valley State University and Calvin College, gave me 2 advice to get students attention.
  1. Students are talking all the time. All you can do is being silent for awhile, then students will wonder what is happening. And when they become quite, you can continue the lesson. DON'T TRY TO TALK ABOVE THEIR TALKING.
  2. If it is not about talk, you can give more explanation about the application of the materials. How to solve daily problems by using mathematics.

Dealing With Stress (Teacher Edition) #1

Stress is a common condition which whoever can be, either teacher or students as well. It happen in Indonesia too. When children can not understand what their teacher taught, they will be bored and complained. And when the exam comes, they won't learn deeply but they make it simple by cheating such as open mathematics book or look their classmates' answer. That's a big NO NO.
I already read an unique article which I found at this site. I'll make it simple and easier to understand how to deal with stress. It said that to deal with stress, we can do these:
  1. Students can CALM and LEARN BETTER if they know exactly what to expect. In other words, they know what the benefit of learning certain material.
  2. EXAMINATION is less stressful if they have gone through a model exam and have been guided to that process. In other words, teacher gives examination that contains material and exercise which given to them before.
  3. CLASS CONFERENCE is important to be held. Teacher can know more about his students' difficulties. Not only students who have difficulties but also parents do. So, they can comfort each other to get the learning goals.
That's all I know about how to deal with stress. If you have questions, you can comment or email me. Thank you.

Belajar Bahasa Inggris Part 1

I learned about the basic of English, known by part of speech, yesterday at LIA. Ms. Kiki told us that our ideas were good but the grammar we used were not right. Hence, I'd like to share what I got about part of speech.

VERB
Penempatan VERB itu pada predicate.
Ada macam2 predicate:

1. Base form -> present (+s/es)
I give private lesson every Monday and Thursday.
give termasuk dalam base form (bentuk dasar)
She gives private lesson every Monday and Thursday.
gives termasuk dalam present

2. Past form
I went to paragon last Sunday.

3. Past Participle Form (+to be + V3)
Pride and Prejudice was written by Jane Austin.
I have lived in Semarang since 1990.

4.Gerund (+to be+ Ving)
I was eating with my pals when my dad called me.

NOUN
Penempatan noun ada pada subject atau object.
Ada 2 macam noun:

1. Uncountable -> singular (much, little)
to be single (is) atau present
E.g: sand, air, water, sugar, money, etc.
The sand is soft.
The sand floats the road.
Two glasses of water.
Three buckets of sand.
Yang mengalami penjamakan adalah numericalnya, bukan noun-nya.

2. Countable -> plural (many, few)
to be (are) atau base form
countable ada 2 (single and plural)
contoh countable yang irregular
S(P): foot (feet), tooth (teeth), sheep (sheep), fish (fish), knife (knives), ox (oxen), datum (data), phenomenon (phenomena), person (people).

Prezi, Alternatif Membuat Presentasi

Selamat Mencoba :)
